First visit 'Museumschatjes'
On November 19, 30 children from the Christian primary school Het Fundament from Genderen visited the Visserijmuseum in Woudrichem. It was the first time that a primary school visited us as part of the Museum Schatjes project. Museum Schatjes is a Heritage project of Erfgoed Brabant, where 50,000 children throughout North Brabant can visit an associated museum free of charge each year.
The children were allowed to choose an old object, an expensive object and a nice object in groups and to find and note the background. At school this will be worked out in further lessons.
The children of the Fundament were also allowed to grind coffee and make a rope. The whole went down well thanks to the accompanying parents.
If other primary schools in the area want to visit our museum, you can, but do not wait too long! The project will run until 1 March 2019.

Woerkumer beer - Kikuit
Today the first Kuit beer was presented to alderman Paula Jorritsma in the Fisherymuseum. Kuitbier is based on authentic recipes from the 15th century. Kuitbier is traditionally a kind of cloudy and pale white beer and has a grassy bouquet, supplemented with fresh citrus fruits.
No barley but oats and wheat are the main ingredients.
This beer is actually a time capsule: because you can taste what Jacoba of Bavaria, trumpet player Jan Klaasen and Hugo de Groot should have tasted when they were here: a delicious refreshing beer. With 5,5% alcohol a tasty thirst quencher but mind you: not too much because it drops in your legs!
That is why this delicious Woerkumer beer is called 'KiKuît' (Watch Out). Only available during 1st Woerkumer Street beers Proasting that will be held at the Arsenaal in Woudrichem on 9 September 2018 from 1 pm onwards during the Pruuv 'm moar.
