The Museum and education programs
The Fishery and Cultural History Museum considers cooperation with (primary) schools to be very important. Our youth is our future. Children in our region should learn something about our culture and history, more than just some text and pictures in some pages of a history book (or canon), but also feel, smell, experience.
We believe that if we can enthuse them early enough for the preservation of our culture and history, this source of information will be retained for future generations.
In collaboration with Heritage Brabant we participate in three projects where students are taken to the museum to learn funny things about the past in a creative way.
Overgisteren (about yesterday) for group 1/2, the children will discover and experience the contents of an old suitcase of a museum employee. Jet and Jan is especially for group 5 and allows the pupils to go back 100 years in a storytelling and museum visit and talks about clothing, living, work, school, food, transport and play.
Museumschatjes(schatjes=small treasures) for groups 5, 6, 7, 8 is about the value of the objects in our museum.
Museumschatten is for children in the age of 12 - 13.
